Not long after Cheltenham and the Grand National 3 day meeting appears on the scene starting on Thursday.

This is an ideal meeting to look out for fancied runners who ran at Cheltenham and failed or went close for various reasons, or maybe the ones where the trainer decided to pull them out for one reason or another. Aintree is a flatter track and will suit certain types in comparison to the demanding undulations of Cheltenham.

Also look for those who fell early on and came out of the race in good shape and without injury. Remember, they will have plenty in reserve not having completed the demanding Cheltenham course.

Below is a list of all the above types that you could look out for and especially if there is a positive market move on the day.

To find out what race they are entered simply check the ABC index daily here:

Aintree – Ones for the notebook;

  • Brain Power
  • Wonderful Charm
  • Balnaslow
  • We Have A Dream
  • Apples Shakira
  • On the Blind Side

As regards the Grand National itself my small each-way picks are;

  • Blaklion -12/1
  • Minella Rocco – 14/1
  • Vincente – 20/1
  • The Last Samuri – 14/1

It’s a huge lottery as you know, so stake with caution and take your pick.  Also don’t forget to look out for those extended place specials on offer from several bookies.

Enjoy this great spectacle & Good Luck!
