I’ve been toying around with the Steamer/Drifter markets, particularly using data from the ATR (At The Races) website. 
Backing and Laying Steamers for a profit is all about getting the timing right, which is no easy feat.
Each day the ATR site highlights the top 10 most and least backed horses of the day. Now this is NOT simply about Backing Steamers and Laying the Drifters and collecting. If it were that easy then we’d all be circumnavigating the globe on a worldwide cruise.
The mission here is to see if we can skim a nice profit edge and ‘Cash Out’ before the race is run by Backing and Laying at certain timeframes before the race is actually run.
